Nas is Like

Nas drops the cover to his heavily anticipated album Life is Good coming out on Def Jam and the Queen’s MC once again keeps em talking. The rapper poses with a nod to ex-wife Kelis’s green wedding dress sitting on his lap sending the internet in overdrive. In Nas’s Behind the Music, Nas talks about how Kelis took everything from him minus her green wedding dress she left hanging in the closet. He symbolically is sending the message she took everything but this dress and Life is still good. I love it ,so glad to have him back on the scene dropping dope songs with actual messages and of course looking sexy while doing so. Are you going to buy the rap legend’s album? Nas Brings his Daughter to Work

Nas shot the video for his awesome song Daughters last week and we can’t wait to see it. Nas calls up Chris Robinson to tell the story of how a little girl grows up in his tale of father/daughter relations. In surprising news Nas has his own daughter Destiny in the video, which is shocking because according to her mother via twitter she was distraught over the song putting out her business and touting him as not being around for his girl. Destiny either got over the drama extremely quickly or was never angry in the first place as she not only will be in the video but has decided to live with her father. I will Nas, Des and even Carmen the best. Look at the pictures below courtesy of the Big Homie over at Rap Radar and let us know what you think in comments or @mediamyxx @akireshenri

Daddy’s Little Girl

Nas dropped an amazing introspective song called Daughters last week. In the song he addresses the relationship with his older child, daughter Destiny and some of her wayward behavior. In particular her twitter pictures of condoms by her bed. It’s amazing how times flies Destiny is 17-years-old, it feels like yesterday her being a baby and Nas rapping about her with pride. I absolutely love the song, it’s reflective of a parent-child relationship and the new problems of  feeling your karma hit you back when your precious daughter begins to grow up. Not everyone was happy with the song, Destiny’s mother Carmen spoke out on twitter about the song but her intentions are suspected to me. I am biased, and Nas fan but mentioned a few weeks ago I wondered how she would inject herself back into the spotlight being that her child support is about to run out. Anyway listen to the song below and let us know what you think in comments of @mediamyxx @akireshenri

The Don

Nas released his video for his dope song The Don and we love it. Nas shows “the life” getting fitted for a suit, having brunch with a chick, his renewed relationship with Steve Stout(hmmm) and just doing what he does best being a NYC legend. The look and feel of the video really takes me back to the essence of hip hop and reminds me I didn’t need the green screen or cgi to enjoy a video. Nas:Behind the Music

I have watched this episode every time it has replayed on Vh1 the Behind the Music of Nas. It was so interesting, people talk about money and fame but Nas makes the music he wants to make. He never let the streets force him to make music that didn’t sit right with his soul. I respect that kind of integrity when the entire purpose of most rappers career is to make money and become moguls now. Nas has such a musical legacy with his father being a jazz musician it really shows how effortless the music and talent came to him. Nas touches everything from the relationship of his parents to his own divorce with Kelis. Watch the episode below and tell us what you think in comments of @mediamyxx @akireshenri

Shawn Carter Foundation

Last Night ended the two night stint at Carnegie Hall for Jay-z and his Shawn Carter Foundation. The Foundation help underprivileged kids go to college. Here in North Carolina his mother, Gloria Carter, who runs the foundation is here a lot with perspective students at many of the HBCU”s here and we support the endeavor wholeheartedly. Jay has many guest at his two shows, Nas performed, Bridget Kelly and the Roots made the concert unforgettable. Jay’s most touching tribute belonged to his daughter Blue Ivy Carter when performing Glory the rapper clearly became emotional. Overall it was an success as Jay became the first rapper to perform at the legendary hall and more importantly good kids will be able to finish their education.
